RockTape Now Available!

Perhaps you have seen someone at the gym, at a race or competition covered in crisscrossing strips of brightly colored tape. Ever wonder what it was or what it was for? More than likely it was Rocktape. RockTape is a brand of kinesiology tape that was designed and produced specifically with athletes in mind. They knew first hand that traditional medical tapewould fail under race conditions, so they created a lab in the Santa Cruz Mountains where they could develop and test a product that would meet their rigorous standards. The result: Rocktape!
While the use of kinesiology tape is often associated with athletes, such as runners, CrossFit enthusiasts and Ironman participants, the reality is that RockTape has been shown to be effective for helping a wide variety of problems such as lymph drainage, posture correction, and biofeedback as well as sports injuries.
When applied to the skin, the tape has a microscopic lifting effect underneath the skin, creating more room in between layers of fascia, muscle, adipose, skin and other structures. This allows for greater blood flow to and from an area, all while allowing the by-products created by inflammation to be removed more quickly and encourage healing. One of its other many benefits is that application of the tape can alter the pain signals that are sent to the brain. Ever whack your shin, rub it and suddenly realize it doesn’t hurt as much? Applying the tape to the injured area does the same basic thing, with the added benefit of assisting your body to heal that bruise much faster than it would on its own.
One of the ways the tape is able to do this is because the company designed Rocktape to have more stretch. Their research shows that by making the tape with a 180% elasticity, they are able to allow the athlete fuller and better range of motion. Unlike conventional kinesiotaping, which is meant to prevent any movement at all, RockTape is meant to allow full movement of the taped area. Most other tapes usually only offer a 130-150% stretch, if any, as most traditional sports tapes are designed to stabilize a joint and inhibit movement. RockTape is made from 97% cotton and 3% nylon. The adhesive is a hypo-allergenic, acrylic-based and contains no latex. However, if you find that you get reactions to bandages; please let your therapist know, as you may have a mild reaction to the tape as well. The adhesive is strong, as the tape is designed to stay put for 3 to 5 days, holding up to extreme workouts and showering.
Rocktape has had been used to successfully help reduce muscle fatigue, bring you back into balance, speed recovery, help improve posture and helps to bring out your inner awesome!
Come on in to ask your therapist more about Rocktape and how they would be able to assist you to feel your best!
